Police believe body was of fleeing man

POLICE believe a body found recently in Makira/Ulawa Province was not of a husband suspected of killing his wife in July this year. Acting Police Commissioner Walter Kola said investigation to establish the person’s identity continues. Mr Kola said postmortem was not possible at this stage because investigation continuing.“Clothes taken from the body were identified to be those worn by the husband. Police also found ropes at the scene which is not far from where the woman was murdered,” Mr Kola said.The husband fled after his wife’s body was discovered beside a bush track to their garden. He was in his mid 30s and comes from Marapui village, Rawo District.The man’s wife, who was believed to have been murdered, was last seen alive accompanying her husband to their garden on 15 July 2008.Her body was found the next day.
