More nurses graduate

THIRTY-SEVEN new registered nurses graduated yesterday in a ceremony held at the Wesley United Church. They were products of the Atoifi Adventist Hospital in Malaita and Solomon Islands College of Higher Education (SICHE) nursing school.Deputy Director of Nursing Services, Edith Fanega, said the newly registered nurses have gone through a 13-month probation as appointed by the Public Service."These nurses will, after this ceremony, take their annual leave first before they will be going out to the provinces,” Ms Fanega said."The administration of nurses is not enough, as there are vacant posts to be filled. The nurses have been chosen to go to those provincial posts because they are needed there,” she added."The chairman of nursing council board has recruited another 12 nurses this week,” she said.The Ministry of Health posted the nurses out to the provinces. It came as a surprised to them as they don't know where they will be posted.Some of them will have to adjust themselves, as they will be under different managements.She said another 48 probation nurses would be graduated next year.
