Youth hit to death

A YOUTH was discovered dead in a drain at Ranadi in the early hours on Saturday morning. The deceased, sixteen year old John Iki Isu was found by some children playing around the drain next to the Marine School opposite Earthmovers Limited.Police Media said police are now investigating the circumstances surrounding his death after it was believed he was struck and killed by a vehicle on Saturday morning between midnight and 3:00am.Detectives from National Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Central CID, Forensic officers and officers from Kukum Traffic Centre attended to the scene on Saturday morning and commenced an immediate investigation.“Police understand that the young man left Paradise Night Club and was walking in an easterly direction when he was struck by a vehicle.”“He was flung into a near road side drain where he died as the result of the speeding vehicle,” police media said.An autopsy revealed that the deceased suffered multiple injuries consistent with being hit by a motor vehicle from behind.The police media reported that police are interested in hearing from members of the public that may have witnessed the incident or that have information relating to this death.Police are now looking for the vehicle and the driver involved in the hit and run incident.Members of the public can contact Kukum Traffic on 22336 or the Police Communications Centre on 23666.
